Filter Spreadsheet Data Assignment

Requirements: To filter data from an Excel spreadsheet



Basic Assignment Option:

Step 1: Use this Excel spreadsheet file for this assignment - Class Gradebook.
Step 2: Using Microsoft Internet Explorer, open and save a copy of this file to your computer, or other storage device (floppy, zip, etc.).
Step 3: Filter out the Top 5 scores in the Total Points column.
Step 4: Name and save the "filtered" spreadsheet file as a new file, such as "filtered".
Step 5: Submit the filtered spreadsheet file to the instructor via email attachment.

  • Advanced Assignment Option:

    Step 1: Using Microsoft Excel, create an original spreadsheet for an educational task or topic.
    Step 2: Include at least 20 rows of data with 5 variables (columns) per row in the new file.
    Step 3: Save the file as the "original" file for this assignment.
    Step 4: Filter the Top 4 and Bottom 4 scores for a column of data in the original file.
    Step 5: Name and save the new filtered files, such as "Top4" and "Bottom4".
    Step 6: Submit the original and filtered files to the instructor via email attachment by the due date.
