Creating "New Stack" Tutorial

HyperStudio

Objective: To Create a New Stack in HyperStudio

Introduction: HyperStudio is a program that allows the user to create their own interactive activity. The program uses a "stack," or collection of what it calls cards that one can link together in either a linear or non-linear manner.

Skill Practice: Creating a New Stack in HyperStudio

Step 1: Open HyperStudio.
Step 2: Click on the icon of the window above the words "New Stack".
Step 3: - Click the "Yes" button.

Step 4: - Click "OK".

Step 5: Use the "Save As" command, found under the File menu, to name your stack and save it in a folder on your computer. When working with HyperStudio, it is advised to save often, especially before starting new cards and when working with large sound files and images.

Step 6: To access the tools for working on your HyperStudio card, click on the "Tools" menu and "drag-and-drop" the tools menu in the black area surrounding the card. You are now ready to design your new card.

Step 7: To add an additional card to your stack, click on the Edit menu and select "New Card". The new card will appear in the same place as previous cards. To navigate between the cards in your stack, use the options under the "Move" menu.

Step 8: If you are already working with a stack and wish to begin a new one, save the stack you are currently working on. Then, go to the File menu and select "New Stack". The "old" stack will be closed and the first card of a new, untitled stack will appear in place of the previous stack.
