WS_FTP
Objective: To create a new file "directory" using WS_FTP
Introduction: WS_FTP is a "file transfer protocol" software program that allows users to "upload" and "download" different types of files to, and from, a server. The program also allows the user to create, name, rename, and delete "directories" (file folders).
Skill Practice: To create a new file "directory" using WS_FTP
Step 1: Open
. Type in the necessary information in the Session Properties window, and then click on "OK".
Step 2: A connection with the host's computer should be made. Your "Remote System" files should now appear in the WS_FTP window.
Step 3: Determine where you would like to create the new file directory. If you want to create the new directory within an existing directory, open the existing folder, such as
, by "double-clicking" on it.
Step 4: Once you identify the location for your new file directory, click on
("Make Directory" button). The "Input" window will appear, which allows the user to "name" the new file directory. A new folder will appear in the desired location, such as
.
Step 5: To "Rename" an existing directory - highlight an existing directory, such as
. Click on
. The "Input" window will appear, which allows users to type in a new name for the directory. Click on "OK" when finished.
Step 6: To "Delete" an existing directory - highlight an existing directory, such as
. Click on
. The "Verify Deletion" window will appear, which allows users to complete the "delete directory" function. Click on either "Yes" or "No" to complete the change.
Step 7: To "Refresh" entire server - To update local system files, click on
. Adjustments or edits you have made to directory files will be updated on your local system files. "Refreshing" server files prior to uploading will ensure that files transferred to a server will display the most recent adjustments.
