Course Description:

This course is designed to provide students with meaningful basketball playing opportunities in a variety of league and tournament formats. At the start of each class period, the instructor will provide a brief review of a fundamental basketball principle and have the class "warm-up" in a brief activity emphasizing the fundamental. The second half of each class will be dedicated to playing hoops! The instructor will divide students into teams for each league and tournament. Each league will will last approximately 3 weeks. Proper basketball attire is required for each class (bball shoes, shorts, shirt, socks, etc.). Students can bring personally owned basketballs to class, but KU is not responsible for them while in Robinson Gymnasium.

The HSES department assigns a locker for each student at no charge. Locker assignment sheets will be passed out on the first day of class. If you do not receive a locker assignment on the first day of class, bring you KU ID and an official copy of your enrollment to the Service Center on the first floor of Robinson to secure your free locker assignment. One of the main points of locker assignments is for students to use the lockers to dress for class, shower after class, and to have a place to store "baggage" (coats, backpacks, books, jewelry, etc) rather than bringing "baggage" to class.
