Objective: To customize bullets used on PowerPoint slides



Introduction: Many types of PowerPoint slides include "bullets" to help organize and "highlight" the information discussed on the slides. PowerPoint allows the presentation creator to customize the characteristics of the bullets being used. Just a few simple "clicks" of the mouse allows educators to customize the "look" and "size" of bullets used on slides.



Skill Practice: Customize PowerPoint Slide Bullets

Step 1: Open . The "PowerPoint" window will appear on screen that will allow you to create a new presentation. Select . The "New Presentation" window will appear on screen, and the "Design Templates" folder will be open. Browse the available design templates, and select one to use with your presentation, such as

or or .

When you have made your selection, click on .


Step 2: The "New Slide" window will appear on screen. Choose the type of slide you want to add content to. When finished, click on . The slide you selected will now appear on screen. You are ready to add content to the slide, and also customize the slide bullets.

Step 3: "Left-click" in the "body" of the slide (not the title area). A bullet will appear, and the perimeter of the "body-area" will become highlighted with "sizing handles". Add some text behind the bullet that appeared.

Step 4: To customize the bullet, go to Format > Bullets and Numbering.... The "Bullets and Numbering" window will appear. It provides the user with formatting options for bullets, including Size, Color, and Type. Select the color of the bullet, such as . Customize the "Size" of the bullet by . Click on to choose from hundreds of shapes and characters to use as your bullets. Or use the preselected types of bullets, such as or or .

Step 5: When you are finished customizing the bullets for your slide, click on .

Step 6: Follow the same procedures to customize bullets on additional slides that are added to the presentation.
