WS_FTP

Objective: To rename a file (or file directory) using WS_FTP



Introduction: WS_FTP is a "file transfer protocol" software program that allows users to "upload" and "download" different types of files to, and from, a server. The program also allows users to rename and delete files, and create new "directories" (file folders).



Skill Practice: To rename a file (or file directory) using WS_FTP

Step 1: Open . Type in the necessary information in the Session Properties window to begin a new session.

Step 2: A connection with a remote site computer (web server) should now be established. Your "Remote Site" files should now appear in the right side of the WS_FTP window.

Step 3: Determine which file (or file directory) you would like to rename. Click on the file (or file directory) to highlight it - such as or .

Step 4: Click on the button. The "Input" window will appear, which allows users to type in a new name for the file, or file directory.

Click on "OK" when finished. In the WS_FTP window, the "Local System" file list will automatically "refresh", and the edited file (or file directory) - the file you just renamed - will now appear in the list. The file (or file directory) has been renamed, and is ready to be transferred to a web server (remote site) using WS_FTP.
