Objective: To insert a page border using Microsoft Word
Introduction: Microsoft Word provides users the functionality of inserting page borders on documents. MS Word comes with a variety of different types of borders to choose from. Using a page border may enhance the visual appearance of a document (more professional), as well as helping to organize document information according to the positioning of the border.
Skill Practice: Insert a page border using Microsoft Word
Step 1: Open
. Go to File > New and select
Step 2: Add desired text and graphics to your new document.
Step 3: Add Page Border - Go to Format > Borders and Shading... The "Borders and Shading" window will appear on screen. Click on the "Page Border" tab near the top of the window -
. The "Page Border" tab will be opened.
Step 4: The "Page Border" window allows the user to choose: 1) the type of border that will be used (boxed, shadow, 3-D, etc), 2) the line style of the border, 3) the color of the border, 4) the width of the border, 5) the art style of the border, and 6) the part of the document you want the border to be applied to. The window also provides a preview of what the selected border will look like when added to your document.
Step 5: Browse the options on the "Page Border" window. Select settings for each option. Preview the settings as you proceed. Select
when finished. The options you selected should now be displayed on your document. If further adjustments are necessary, use the "Page Border" window again to make the necessary changes.
