Introduction: Adobe Photoshop comes equipped with an Eraser Tool that allows users to manipulate original photos and graphics into new, creative objects. With a few clicks of the mouse, educators can prepare graphics for use on web pages and handouts.
Skill Practice: To Use Eraser Tool to Manipulate Image
Step 1: Open
. Go to File > Open. The "Open" window will appear on screen. Use the window's options to locate and open a graphic (image, clip art, etc) that you want to manipulate with the Eraser Tool, such as

Step 2: The selected graphic should appear on screen. To activate the Eraser Tool, click on the Eraser Tool icon with the cursor -
. The cursor will now become the Eraser Tool, and the mouse will control the tool. Select the type of eraser you want to use from the "Options Menu" (pencil, airbrush, paintbrush, or block), and click on the "Brushes Palette" to select eraser size:

Step 3: Move the cursor over the graphic - the cursor will now look like a small circle, depending on which brush size you selected. With the cursor on the graphic, click the mouse once. The area of the graphic that was inside the "circle" cursor will be erased -

Step 4: Continue to edit the graphic using the Eraser Tool until you have created a new, desired object -

Step 5: Go to File > Save to save the changes to the original graphic, or use Save As to create a new graphic displaying the changes (this will leave the original graphic intact).
