Objective: To insert a slide number on a PowerPoint slide



Introduction: Educators using PowerPoint may want to insert a slide number for organizational purposes. PowerPoint makes it very easy to add a slide number to presentation slides.



Skill Practice: Insert a Slide Number

Step 1: Open . The "PowerPoint" window will appear on screen. Open an existing PowerPoint presentation, or create a new presentation for this tutorial.

Step 2: Add desired text and graphics to the presentation, along with any slide animations and slide transition effects.

Step 3: To add a Slide Number: - Go to View > Header and Footer... The "Header and Footer" window will appear on screen



Step 4: Check the "box" next to "Slide Number" - . If you want a slide number displayed only on the current slide, select . If you want a slide number inserted on all slides of your presentation, select

Step 6: Add Page Number to Notes to Handout - on the "Header and Footer" window select to open the "Notes and Handouts" tab.



Click in the box next to Page Number - . Select - this will ensure that page numbers are printed on all notes and handouts.
